Alyssa Luise named 2019-2020 Youth of the Year

Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham and Wakefield is excited to announce Alyssa Luise has been named Youth of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. Alyssa was also the Club’s 2017-2018 Youth of the Year. She will go on to vie for the Massachusetts Youth of the Year title and a college scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Alyssa stated “I am honored to be named the 2020 Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield. The Club is a place where I can always better myself with the ongoing support from the amazing staff. They push me out of my comfort zone to make me the best person I can be. I always try to be a positive role model to others so I can make the same impact on the youth in my community that the Club has had on me. I always refer to the Club as my second home because it is always a place where I feel safe and worry free, with a guaranteed smile on my face!”

If Alyssa wins at the state competition, she will compete for the title of North East Region Youth of the Year and an additional college scholarship. Regional winners will advance to Washington D.C. to compete for the title of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Youth of the Year.
Alyssa has been a member at the Wakefield Club since it opened its doors in 2010. She now serves as one of the Wakefield Club’s junior staff, where she works to make a positive impact on youth everyday.

Kyle Cannon, the Clubs Teen Director commented “It has been my absolute pleasure working alongside Alyssa throughout the 2020 Youth of the Year process. This year, the Club has worked with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to navigate the challenges affecting us all, including the hosting of our first ever virtual judging. Alyssa demonstrated posie, confidence, and compassion throughout this process, helping to make this new virtual model a success.”
